If you don't see value in having a Realtor I say feel free to try and sell your home by yourself. Then you will see what is really involved. I live in a city of 250,000 people, only about 7% of homes here are listed fsbo. So I guess 93 out of a 100 can see the value of a Realtor, and I don't see us having to worry about being out a job. Fact is many that try fsbo end up coming to a Realtor in the end. Once they see the time, money and headaches invovled they figure they could just pay a bit more and have someone else do it for them. Believe me there is plenty of costs in doing it yourself if you do it right. You can probably plan on having atleast 100 hours invested in it as well. Don't forget what you will pay to get it listed, pay for marekting, a good lawyer and probably end up paying a buyer's agent to bring you a buyer. I say good luck and see you soon :)

Advertising and marketing the property is very important when listing a home. It takes money and the know-where-to advertise to attract buyers. I do that. My listings get the exposure to sell fast. Nice job!

As a Realtor I find this list very accurate. We work very hard and spend many hours gathering information for our clients. As a Seller make sure that you select a Realtor that will work hard for you. We don't get paid until we close a deal so we are very motivated to get the deal done. Our understanding of Real Estate Law can prevent problems that may occur with non professionals though they have the very best intentions and are very intelligent. There are ways that the system works and Realtors know how to successfully navigate the system so that everyone comes out a winner! Please consider using a Realtor on your next Real Estate transaction.

Sorry, but I still feel that as an intelligent, internet savvy, resourceful consumer I can handle AT LEAST 50% of these items on my own. It is getting more and more difficult for me to place a value on the things that my real estate agent is doing. Having my house listed on MLS is definitely worth paying for as well as contract and closing preparation. The rest of the stuff anyone can do. I feel the value of real estate agents is declining. They better get creative and step it up or decrease their fees.
